In the future when launching into a writing stint, perhaps it's best to avoid starting it off by reading E.B. White's essays and then trying to think any hopeful thoughts about one's own writing style at all...
Oh by all means, don't read E.B. White while you're trying to write because you'll turn to self-loathing and bemoan that E.B. could've said it better than that!
