Day 1: (Monday, our
first full day in China): After grabbing breakfast in the street (candied fruit
and donuts) we hit the zoo to meet the pandas. Frankly, we didn't even need the
animals for horsing around, Josh and Ben did enough on their own, attempting to
stand on several baby animal statues. And they weren't the only ones either. Of
course, there were animals and I think they tolerated us
alright.
Day 2: Candace indulged in somme McD's
coffee and then it was off to Tianamen Square with our friends Allen and Eleni
who had arrived late the night before. It's so big it doesn't even look like a
square at first, containing multiple large buildings mixed with open places.
The buildings can vary quite a bit, but there's plenty of lovely traditional
Chinese architecture to see. In the evening we went to the top of our
hostel and got to see the surrounding area, and then headed out for dinner. The
food we've had here is almost always cheap and delicious, but there is the occasional package
of something unidentifiable and, well, smelly. But all's well that ends well.
