me too! me too!

A some verses from Daniel 1 totally made my day today. We remember the story of how Daniel was taken from his home in Israel over to Babylon, but we (or at least I) don't often remember just what the king of Babylon wanted with them in the first place...

"Then the king commanded Ashpenaz, his chief eunuch, to bring some of the people of Israel, both of the royal family and of the nobility, youths without blemish, of good appearance and skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king’s palace, and to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans... They were to be educated for three years, and at the end of that time they were to stand before the king."

They were totally gonna be language and literature grad students! Woot!
(note: yeah yeah, I know their jobs were actually bigger than that, but let me have it for today)

And then the even more encouraging part came down in verse 17:
"As for these four youths, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom"

Yeay! They must have had there theses accepted by the committee! ;) Be praying that God does that with another grad student this semester!

  1. Ha HA, I now have greater insight into that passage! If God gave wisdom in time of need back then, I'm sure He still gives it now! Praise God!!!
